This post contains affiliate links. If you shop via a link marked with an '*' I may earn a small commission. As transparent as I like our beauty products to be, I will always do the same for you. I only ever recommend products that I love and use and will never promote a brand that isn't cruelty-free or that I don't believe in. Thanks :)
Who doesn’t love to challenge themselves? Facing a challenge gives us a great sense of accomplishment and helps us to develop personally.
I know that we can often feel so much pressure to do things right. To shop more consciously whilst looking after the pennies, to eat fewer avocados but to eat more greens. To HIT train but also find our inner zen, to dress on-trend but to always be timeless, to stand out from the crowd and still totally fit in.
Uhh, It can often feel pretty overwhelming when we feel we need to make so many changes to keep up with the MASSES of new information we receive; on what's hot and what's not, what's sustainable, and what is truly good for our souls. Information overload is to me, the definition of this modern world we live in, and that leaves us feeling like we have little time and so much to achieve. I'm here to say, let's slow it down.
It is, however, glorious to know so much positive change is coming, and to have a chance to be a part of that - we are understanding more what a good quality of life truly is, and what everyone deserves; whether that's in our food or where our goods come from. It's about equality - if we make these small changes, we are heading to a more equal place globally - so I think it is worth the occasional moments of turbulence. I've learned the hard way to make efforts where I can, but not to apply so much pressure.
What does this even have to do with makeup? Am I just having a good old rant? No. Well, as we all know, animal testing is pretty nasty stuff and isn’t at all essential in developing beauty products. However, from all those decades where we were none the wiser and made decisions mainly based on convenience, we have some old faves in our makeup bags that we just don’t want to part with. I get it.
So instead of feeling like we have to change the entire contents of our life.. let's just choos{{{e one thing and swap it out for a brand certified as cruelty-free. And pat ourselves on the back whilst we're at it.

Also, If you're ever unsure of a brand's cruelty-free status (some use clever language to make it seem they are when in truth they aren't), check on www.crueltyfreekitty.com.
