My Top Five All New Makeup Products - Straight From The Makeup Kit

I'm back to work and in full swing - these five new products have been key players on every shoot so far.

MY TOP FIVE MAKEUP PRODUCTS - STRAIGHT FROM THE MAKE-UP KIT
Spring is finally here, and whilst patiently waiting for sunnier days, I've been back to work and in full swing. Its been great to work and catch-up with fellow creatives and after so much time off - I had to update the old makeup kit. After cleaning every single product, brush and bag, I realised there were a few essentials I needed to upgrade. Of course, I researched the hell out of my options before shopping and found the best of the best products to get my palettes up to speed. Choosing cruelty-free products from brands I believe in takes time but is well worth it. Its great to build a bank of trustworthy brands
that don't compromise on quality. I've worked on many beautiful faces over the past few weeks and there have been some stand out products that have worked on every single model, and now I'm sharing them with you. Here's a list of the essentials I needed to update:
1) Brow gel - There are so many brow gels on the market promising to give that laminated and perfectly groomed finish. My brows are coarse and stubborn, so I always know if there's a brow gel that works with mine - they will likely work for most and guess what... I found one!
2) Setting powder - I've got so many setting powders in my kit but had none that I was completely satisfied with. Since dewy, glassy glossy skin has been on trend, I've noticed a lot of brands adding refined shimmer into their setting powders. This is beautiful for everyday makeup, but under studio lights - It can look super oily and overly shiny. I went out in search for the perfect setting powder.
3) Creamy concealer - I wanted something that wasn't too full a coverage and left a skin-like finish - this will promise a more even and blended skin tone and texture. I've found that usually the best cream concealers for coverage, are the worst for leaving a heavy and visible texture on the skin. Any concealers that show a less visible finish, are usually not strong enough at reflecting light and covering the skin enough, so I set out to find a happy medium silky soft concealer.
4) Brow pencil - I wanted an alternative to a gel liner, so I can create soft wispy feather strokes quickly and effortlessly. I love Kat Von D for their gel pots and buildable coverage but felt I was missing an all in one lightweight alternative.
5) Eye primer - I find that eye primers lose their quality if they aren't used in the first 6 months of purchase and had my eye on an eye primer that's been a long-standing firm favourite in the industry for quite some time.
There were a few other bits I tried (mascaras, lip glosses etc.) however, this above fantastic five were the winners for me which is why I had to document and share them for you all. I oath to only ever share the most impressive of them all!
1) Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow freeze* - Does exactly what it says on the tin. It's a sticky and clear consistency and holds the brows in place whichever direction you brush them. It sets really well, but could still be manipulated if you needed to re brush them. Hands down the best brow-setting product I've ever tried.
2) Hourglass Veil Setting Powder*.
This beautifully featherlight powder has just enough strength to set makeup, without leaving a chalky textured super matte finish. It's somewhere between demi-matte and matte and doesn't have too many light-reflective particles to leave you looking like a disco ball on photos.
3) Glossier Stretch Concealer
- This slightly waxy, elasticated concealer glides on the skin and is so easy to move around. It doesnt sit directly on the skin and is also buildable. I used this for under-eyes as well as blemishes and it worked a treat.
4) Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil* - I love the shape of the pencil tip on this product. Its triangular and makes creating brow hair strokes super easy. It also has great hold due to its wax, pencil, powder like formula.
5) Urban decay eyeshadow primer potion* - Although Im not a huge fan of face primers, there is a big difference to an eye makeup look when a primer is involved. This product deserves all the glory and good rep it has gained over the years. I found that all the shadows I applied on top of this base were more vivid, blendable, and stayed in place all day.
Now that the research and testing has been done, I can see all of these key products being repurchased for good. Enjoy x
