K-beauty is booming again! Heres whats trending and why.
Korean beauty brands have been renound for their super skincare line ups, and well formulated often gentle ingredients.
Back in 2012-2015 K beauty had a moment. There was a surge in public interest and the awareness on K beauty brands began to grow. Fast forward to a whole whopping DECADE and the trends have exploded again.
My take on this, is that there are results in the pay off leaving people wanting more. Our trust has developed and bloomed and we can now say with confidence that K Beauty brands know exactly what they're doing when it comes to skincare. I also think the general approach of focusing on repairing skin barrier, and adding hydration aligns with a gentle approach we all love to take when it comes to skincare. This of course is following a few years of learning the hard way that addind copious amounts of acids and retinols in a 12 step routine isnt the way forward.
So, whats hot and whats not! Im going to share with you some popular brands and product recommendations to save you the researching time!
1) sheet masks
sheet masks have been around for a long time but have definitely boomed in the last couple years. A great way to treat the skin to hydration and give golden formulas a chance to properly absorb into the skin. Here are a list of a few great ones work trying.

Since sheetmasks have been around for so long now, whats the new innovation on the market in this field. Behold, the toner mask! These are great for targeting certain areas of the skin that need more nourishing. A toner mask is essentially a sheet mask shaped into smaller, more wearable sizes. And ofcourse, I have a recommendation just for you.
2) Salmon sperm! Really?
One of the latest trends in skincare is having 'salmon sperm' (its actually salmon eggs) injected into your face. This trend has stretched beyond the dermatologist clinics and is now available for those DIY skincare fanatics. But first, what does the salmon eggsperm thing promise to do for your skin?
According to Dermascope Magazine "it helps brighten and tighten the skin. It is very high in amino acids, fatty acids, omega 3, and vitamins A and D". You can read more on it here!

3) Pimple patches
Pimple patches derived from the medical field, patches have been used to help heal scars by extracting fluids using hydrochloride and drying the surface to promote healing. And like magic, if these patches are made smaller, they work wonder for healing pimples! The true korean trend is to cover scars with clear patches, not only to aid the skins healing process, but also for hygiene purposes. As trends often blow up, and the orignal ideas grow legs, you see a lot of the western culture wearing pimple patches with cute designs like flowers and gems. This is a fun take that i can get behind, in a way its dressing the face with style - the way we use makeup artistry!
